Roger Williams founded Rhode Island, and his work and life gave America the concepts of the separation of church and state, the Baptist Church of America, the first translation of an American Indian language, the first mutual aid relationship between indigenous people---one that lasted through all of his life, one of the best explanations as to why Christians cannot harm others over religious differences, and more.
